Artist Highlight: Matt Kaylor

Matt is our first featured artist of the LYFT-RX Artist Network Program! We collaborate with athletes/artists by showcasing their designs on LYFT-RX shirts.

Matt was born in San Diego before relocating to Las Vegas where he has lived the past 20 years. He played baseball, football, but excelled in basketball. After a couple knee surgeries, he was introduced to CrossFit and never looked back.

Matt in his own words:

Learning proper technique and movements in CrossFit has brought me back to life in the athletic world. Coaching has been the most rewarding aspect of CrossFit. The ability to help people with their health and overall well being is an honor and a privilege. I give all I have to every class… they deserve no less since they come in and give me their all.

The t-shirt was an amazing opportunity to collaborate with LYFT-RX. I wanted it to do right by the brand and at the same time express myself. Purple is my favorite color! It just stands out. The lettering was 80’s inspired. I’m the guy that still says “rad” and “gnarly” so it just made sense to go that route.

Why “Empty That F’N Tank!”? I’d always yell this slogan at the last minute of a workout to help push athletes. I’m known for my “high volume motivation”. So saying that just became my thing and some athletes would yell it with me. It was just something to let out at the end of a nasty workout. That’s why we CrossFit! We want to let out all we have inside, workout and just be ourselves. Motivation is something I’m proud to do for my athletes. I’ll never stop giving them all I have in the tank!
